Welcome to the Accessibility Reporting Tool (ART). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of ART, its website, documentation, and related resources.
By accessing or using ART, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use ART.
About ART
ART is a free, open-source application designed to assist accessibility professionals with documenting, organizing, and managing accessibility evaluations. ART is intended to support accessibility workflows but does not replace professional judgment or expertise.
License
ART is distributed under the MIT License. Your use of the software is also subject to the terms of that license. Nothing in these Terms replaces or modifies the MIT License.
Professional Judgment
ART is intended to assist accessibility professionals in documenting, organizing, and managing accessibility evaluations. While ART includes features that streamline reporting workflows and improve productivity, it does not automatically determine compliance with accessibility standards and should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional expertise, human evaluation, or independent judgment.
Accessibility evaluations require careful analysis, critical thinking, and consideration of the applicable standards, technologies, and user experiences. Users are solely responsible for reviewing the accuracy of their findings, recommendations, and reports before sharing or publishing them.
ART was created to amplify the expertise of accessibility professionals, not replace it.
Acceptable Use
You agree to use ART in a lawful and responsible manner.
You agree not to:
- Use ART in violation of applicable laws or regulations.
- Use ART to distribute malicious software or harmful content.
- Misrepresent ART as your own original work.
- Remove or alter copyright or license notices required by the MIT License.
Your Data
ART is designed using a local-first approach. Accessibility reports, templates, settings, and other project data are automatically stored locally on your device using your browser’s built-in storage capabilities unless you choose to export or delete them.
You are responsible for maintaining backups of your own work and protecting any exported files.
No Warranty
ART is provided “AS IS”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Although every effort is made to provide reliable software, no software can be guaranteed to be free from defects, errors, interruptions, or security vulnerabilities.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of ART.
You assume all responsibility for your use of the software and for any decisions, reports, recommendations, or actions resulting from its use.
Intellectual Property
The ART name, website content, documentation, and other original materials are protected by applicable intellectual property laws unless otherwise indicated. The ART software itself is distributed under the MIT License.
Third-Party Resources
ART may include links to third-party websites and resources, including GitHub, documentation published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and other accessibility-related resources. I am not responsible for the content, availability, security, or privacy practices of third-party websites.
Updates to ART
ART is an actively evolving open-source project. Features, documentation, website content, and functionality may change over time as improvements are made.
These Terms of Service may also be updated periodically. The Effective Date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision.
Termination
Because ART does not require user accounts, there is generally no account to suspend or terminate. However, I reserve the right to modify, discontinue, or restrict access to the ART website or related online services if necessary.
